I've been tagged....QUIRKS

I have been tagged...by Tanya @ http://tanyaryff.blogspot.com/ and Carrie @ http://carrieyoung.typepad.com/ and technically, also, Miss soozadoo (link to the right) who refused to actually tag anyone in particular but invited anyone to join in...
I think everyone in blog land already knows the deal - I have to link the person who tagged me (as above) and 2. Mention the rules on your blog. and 3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours. 4. Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them.
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger's blogs letting them know they have been tagged.

I asked Soozadoo to tell me my quirks. I couldn't focus. And being restricted to JUST six was too hard. She rattled off several straight away. And then I added my own and now I have not followed rule #3 but that's ok, because this is my blog and one of my quirks is that I do things my way anyway....and, ironically, I have a list.

Quirk #1 - I write lists. Everywhere. All the time. Over and Over. And then I combine lists. Reevaluate the lists. Delegate tasks from the lists. Cross off tasks I have completed. And then I write more lists. I am not just a list -writer. I am a do-er. I get stuff done.

Quirk #2 - I like things "on the side". I will never just order off the menu. I will always change somethign. Add something, take something out. I will often ask for things to be "on the side". Like Sally in "when Harry met Sally".

Quirk #3 - I cannot help but feel the indentation and bumps of ink on the pages of books and magazines. Seriously. I drag my nails along the ink. I do it discreetly. There is no scratchy noise. But i do it compulsively. I don't know why.

Quirk #4 - I love inspirational quotes. I often will use a quote to respond to my staff's complaints. For example, I recently used this one : "Conflict occurs when a persons' values, needs or identity are threatened, challenged or undermined". I am known to buy those cheesy quote books about friendship. I recently bought a very expensive pretty one becuase I liked one quote in it and it was too long for me to remember.

Quirk # 5 - I touch wood/knock on wood with regularity. I say 'touch wood' and find something wood/paper and touch a part of my body.

Quirk #6 - I am fussy with food - I won't combine sweet and savoury or healthy and unhealthy. For example, I won't eat Pavlova as it has perfectly good fruit on a sugar dessert. Doesn't make sense to me. NOt that I like Jam (I despise it) but I don't get jam on toast. Sweet/savoury. I wouldn't do fruit and icecream or yoghurt. HOwever, I am obsessed with ETA BBQ sauce and will use this with gay abandon on practically everything.

Quirk #7 - I doodle on everything. No wonder my kids do too. If I am left long enough anywhere with a pen I will draw. Many of my doodles are boxes - many boxes on boxes. Or swirls.

Quirk #8 - I cannot leave the house without painted toenails.

Quirk #9 - I have a thing about lips and eyebrows. It's the first thing i notice about people. Seriously. I lust after great lips and great eyebrows. I am so glad my kids got both. It was important to me.

Quirk #10 - I love washing clothes. I love a good cleaning product. But I am not a good cleaner.

Quirk #11 - I ask WHY a lot. My friends mock me for this. I just cannot let things go. I have to know WHY. I guess this is why I am a criminologist. I have an inquiring mind. I am a voyeur. I NEED TO KNOW. It does get me in to trouble. People do tend to tell me things they wish they hadn't. I had a friend recently tell me after we had a great night out (and several wines...) "I think I need to kill you. I have told you too much". It's true. I am a vault of secrets! (It's all safe Jaz!)

Quirk #12 - I have to brush my feet before I get in to bed. I don't like any crumbs or sand or dirt in my bed. NONE.

So that should do it. Sussanah did tell me of one of my other quirks, but I think that it is not really appropriate for blog land.

I am sure that there are so many more - this was fun. So many of you know me well - what do you think are my quirks?
